I am

Cal Amos Meepers

These are the words

of my very own Mom!

I'm not sure if I told this story before.
If I did, apologies, but if I didn't, well,
it's important. Cal is the first of a new
breed of cat.

Cal was at the vet a few weeks ago for his
yearly check-up. My vet was exclaiming over how
very Maine Coonish he is and how some breeders would
no doubt have liked to get their hands on him for
a foundation boy (before his little operation).
Without papers, though, he can't be claimed as a
Maine Coon.

I popped out with, "He may not be
an official Maine Coon but he *is* a Cal Coon."

My vet stared at me.

"That's great!" she said.

She grabbed her pen and crossed out
on his chart where it said "breed: domestic longhair".
Next to "breed:" she wrote in "Cal Coon".

"If any other vet ever looks at this," she said,
"he's going to wonder what the heck a Cal Coon is."

So it's official. I have the one and only Cal Coon.
